My Somatic Approach to Eating Disorder RecoveryThere was a moment—standing in front of a mirror after binging and purging, my baby crying in the other room—when I made a decision. It was no longer acceptable for me not to love myself, fully and as a whole human.
For too long, I had believed the lie that I wasn’t enough. That the shape and size of my body determined my worth. That food was either good or bad, and I was trapped in an abusive relationship with it.
But I didn’t want my daughter growing up with a mother who couldn’t give her the gift of confidence simply because she lacked it herself. Life is too precious, and raising her was too important a responsibility to continue walking the road I was on. I knew I had the power to change, not just for myself but for her. And so began my recovery journey.
In college, I studied theater, constantly curious about playing a human. After college, yoga and meditation expanded that curiosity into the art of being human. Now, my work is dedicated to helping others embody their worth—not just intellectually understand it, but feel it, live it, and reclaim it through the art of self-care, self-compassion, and nervous system healing.
Somatic Healing & RecoveryAs a coach, I help my clients break down the harmful ideologies that have shaped our relationships with food and our bodies—ideologies rooted in systems of patriarchy and oppression, often passed down through generations. Many of these beliefs live in our bodies without us even realizing it. Recovery isn’t just about changing thoughts—it’s about releasing what has been held inside us for too long and reconnecting with ourselves in a way that is embodied, sustainable, and deeply ours.
I believe that full recovery from an eating disorder is possible—I am living proof of that. And I believe that embodiment work is an essential and often missing piece of that journey. Through somatic practices, movement, and nervous system regulation, we can reclaim our autonomy, expression, and self-respect—no matter our size, gender identity, ability, or race.
I am committed to the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES) and trauma informed approach to recovery.
