About
There was a moment standing in front a mirror after binging and purging, my baby crying in the other room, when I decided that it was no longer ok for me not to love myself, fully and as a whole human. For too long I believed the lie of the narrative that I wasn't enough. I believed that the shape and size of my body was a reflection of my worth as a human. I believed that food was either good or bad and I was in an abusive relationship with it.
But I didn't want my daughter growing up with a Mama who couldn't give her the gift of confidence, simply because she was lacking it within herself. It is way too precious a life and important responsibility of raising a daughter to continue walking down the road I was on. I no longer wanted to pass down what I knew I had in me to change. And so began my recovery journey.
In college I studied theatre, constantly curious about the art of playing a human. Post college came yoga and meditation where the curiosity expanded to the art of being a human. Now the work that I am most called to is helping other humans know and understand their worth, not to play at it, but to embody it through the art of self-care and compassion.
As a coach, much of my work is focused around breaking down the harmful ideologies that have been formed within us and the systems we live in through the tools of patriarchy and oppression . Many of these we hold within ourselves, often without our knowing, passed down to us through generations. All of this greatly impacts our relationship with our bodies and our food. But I believe it doesn't have to and being fully recovered from an eating disorder is possible as I am living proof of that.
I believe in the HAES curriculum and have taken their pledge to honor the principles of health at every size. I am committed to be an advocate for body autonomy, expression and respect no matter size, gender identity, ability or race.
